About Next Fence

Berkshire-based fencing contractors with a passion for quality materials, and fences built to last decades.

Why Next Fence Exists

Next Fence was started by Leonard after more than six years working in the fencing trade across Berkshire, Surrey and Oxfordshire. The company is registered as Reading Elite Refurbishments Ltd (Company No. 16397267) and operates as Next Fence, a name chosen to reflect what we believe a fence should be: the next one you'll need for the next twenty-five years, not a temporary fix you'll be replacing in five.

The founding idea was simple. Good fencing is skilled work. The posts have to be set straight and deep. The materials have to be matched to the soil, the exposure, and what the purpose the fence is for. The finish has to look as considered from the inside of the garden as it does from the road. Cutting corners on any of these saves money on day one and costs the homeowner by year three, when the panels start to lean and the gravel boards rot through.

We started Next Fence to do the work properly. That means using the right post system for the job, increasingly, that means DuraPost rather than concrete or timber. It means quoting honestly, including the cost of removing and disposing of the old fence (legally, with the right licences). And it means turning up when we said we would, finishing what we started, and standing behind the work afterwards.

Credentials You Can Verify

How We Work

We're a small team based in the Reading area, covering Berkshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. Small matters here. It means the same people who quote your job are the people who install it. There's no sales rep handing you to a sub-contractor you'll never meet. There's no head office in another county to hide behind if something needs putting right.

Our quoting process is structured around getting the price right the first time, not low-balling to win the job and adding extras later. When we visit, we measure the run, check the ground conditions, ask about access for materials, look at the existing fence (if there is one) and discuss what you actually want the fence to do, privacy, stock-proofing, road-side boundary, equine containment. Then we quote in writing with a breakdown of materials, labour, and waste removal.

Once you're booked in, we tell you when we'll arrive and we arrive then. Most residential jobs take one to three days. Larger farm and equine projects can run longer, we plan those in stages so you're never left with an open boundary overnight.
